‘Be the change you want to see in the world’, Gandhi (1869-1948)
Speranza22 is an international rugby team that was created to play in memory of Marco Speranza. Marco tragically died in a plane crash in his native Argentina in February 2013. Marco started playing rugby with the Abu Dhabi Harlequins when he was 15 years old and was immediately recognized as an exceptional talent. He played for the Arabian Gulf and for the Quins 1st and 2nd XV as a 18 and 19-year-old.
The team bearing his name have since appeared at every Dubai Rugby Sevens. They have achieved the subsequent titles of: 2014 Finalists, 2015 Quarter-Finals, 2016 Plate Finalists and 2017 Plate and Trophy Finalists. Speranza22 have continued to grow, honouring Marco’s incredible memory and supporting exceptional causes concurrently.
